- Assigning work and delegating responsibility to subordinate Police Officers to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Communicate with personnel in the organization to keep them updated on new departmental and command policies, procedures, and directives.
- Counsel employees on performance issues to guide them toward meeting established standards and goals.
- Initiate formal requests to fill personnel vacancies and assists in applicant selection
- Authorize personnel actions for the work unit necessary to recruit for vacancies, promote developmental employees, or review position classification.

- Analyze emergency situations to determine and coordinate appropriate responses between law enforcement, security, fire and other emergency units.
- Prepare plans to respond in emergency situations involving the entire community
- Prepare reports about patrol activities, squad efficiency, discipline, and personnel evaluation to submit to higher echelon.
