Our Client, a leading International Utilities firm is looking to hire a Data Governance and Architecture Lead. This role is 2 days a week onsite in Paramus , NJ .
As the ideal candidate you will be responsible for developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the quality, integrity, security, and availability of data assets across the organization. You role will collaborate with stakeholders to establish data standards, define data architecture principles, and promote data literacy throughout the organization. You will also oversee the implementation of data governance tools and technologies, and monitor compliance with data governance policies and procedures.
Primary Duties
Develop and Implement Data Governance Framework:

  • Define and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, encompassing policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines, to ensure effective data management throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a data governance roadmap that aligns with organizational goals and strategic objectives.

Establish Data Policies and Procedures

  • Create and implement data policies and procedures related to data quality, metadata management, data access, security, privacy, retention, and archiving.
  • Ensure that data policies and procedures comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and legal obligations.

Oversee Data Architecture:

  • Define and maintain data architecture principles, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency, interoperability, and scalability of data assets.
  • Provide guidance on data integration, data modeling, and data warehousing strategies.

Promote Data Literacy and Culture:

  • Develop and deliver data literacy programs and training initiatives to enhance understanding of data governance concepts and practices across the organization.
  • Champion data governance best practices and advocate for continuous improvement in data management processes.

Monitor and Enforce Compliance:

  • Establish mechanisms to monitor compliance with data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Implement corrective actions and remediation plans to address non-compliance issues.

Collaborate and Communicate:

  • Work closely with data owners, data stewards, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration on data governance initiatives.
  • Communicate data governance progress, issues, and risks to senior management and provide regular reports on data governance activities.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices, including data quality management, metadata management, data security, and privacy.
  • Expertise in data architecture concepts, including data modeling, data integration, data warehousing, and data lake design.
  • Proficiency in data governance and data quality tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, DataHub).
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex data landscapes and develop effective governance solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
