The Power BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing industry data. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to transform complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions, especially in areas like production efficiency, supply chain management, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Power BI data models customized to the manufacturing sector, focusing on data sets such as production metrics, inventory levels, and supply chain KPIs.
- Design and implement interactive dashboards and reports that visualize production performance, yield rates, equipment downtime, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Execute ETL processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity across key operational systems, such as MES, ERP, and CRM systems used in manufacturing.
- Work with stakeholders from engineering, production, supply chain, and finance teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Optimize Power BI dashboards to handle high-frequency data typical in manufacturing settings, using techniques like incremental data refresh and direct query optimization for real-time insights.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies in line with industry standards for manufacturing.
- Train end-users, especially production and engineering teams, to interpret Power BI insights effectively for operational decisions.
- Document and maintain BI solution architecture, data lineage, and user guidelines, ensuring transparency and consistency in manufacturing metrics.
Required Qualifications:
- 9+ years of experience as a Power BI Developer, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in Power BI with advanced DAX calculations, data modeling, and manufacturing-specific report development.
- Strong expertise in SQL, with experience in querying manufacturing data sources and integrating with ERP, MES, and supply chain management systems.
- Familiarity with advanced Power BI capabilities like composite models and incremental refresh, essential for managing high-volume, time-sensitive data in manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI Service, including workspace management, app deployment, and secure report sharing within a manufacturing organization.
- Proven ability to optimize Power BI performance for complex data models and high-frequency manufacturing data.
- Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and cybersecurity practices relevant to the manufacturing sector.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills tailored to manufacturing challenges, such as yield improvement, downtime reduction, and inventory optimization.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in manufacturing.
