The General Engineer:
- Serves as an associate marine surveyor for assigned ships and maintains a working knowledge of assigned vessel characteristics, capabilities, and operational performance. Inspects vessels for material condition and conducts sea trials to assess vessel capabilities, performance, and readiness.
- Participates in staff efforts involving ship reactivation and deactivation plans, voyage repairs, planned maintenance and modernization, and other functions associated with husbanding and maintaining
- Assists in the professional review of engineering and program management functions, generates repair specifications, monitors management systems development and implementation, and prepares operational installation designs and procedures.
- Provides support to the MARAD RRF Logistics Support Program and its systems, the RRF Management System (RMS) and the Excess Processing Program (EPP).
- Maintains awareness of industry best practices, techniques, products and services related to ship repair, preventative maintenance, and lifecycle management.
The ideal candidate has experience and/or mastery of ship operations, maintenance, repair, alteration, logistics support, construction, mission readiness, operational reliability, cost-controls, budgeting, planning, contractor oversight, and quality assurance; knowledge of USCG and class society rules and regulations as well as project management and contracting experience.
