IT Director Commercial Digital

The IT Director, Commercial Digital, oversees the planning, development, and management of digital technology solutions to support the commercial functions of the business. This role bridges the gap between IT and commercial teams, delivering digital initiatives that improve customer engagement, streamline business processes, and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in digital transformation, and a deep understanding of commercial technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a digital technology strategy aligned with commercial objectives, working closely with business leadership.
  • Lead the successful delivery of digital technology projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meeting enterprise risk/compliance and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder communication.
  • Drive the adoption of Agile or other suitable methodologies to ensure fast-paced, iterative development.
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and customer experience teams to understand business needs and objectives.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to business stakeholders on digital initiatives and technology trends.
  • Build and lead a high-performing digital team, including recruiting, training, and mentoring.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture that promotes continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate and select third-party vendors for digital solutions, negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
  • Ensure that all digital initiatives comply with security, privacy, and data protection regulations.
  • Work closely with the IT security team to implement best practices and protect commercial digital assets from cybersecurity threats.
  • Assist with critical production issues within the application space as needed.
  • Lead the implementation of one or more technology programs, some of which may span several years and may include obtaining senior-level (and sometimes executive level) sponsorship and steering committee approval

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 10 years of experience in IT,
  • Comfortable with agile software development methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and leveraging insights to drive strategic decisions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Job Skills

  • Experience in a digital transformation role supporting commercial banking functions.
  • Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Experience preparing and justifying business cases and value propositions; ability to justify business expenditures by identifying cost, benefits, ROI, opportunities, and risks.
  • Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize team's work to drive efficiency.
  • Ability to drive collaboration among team members and effective in communicating and coordinating activities to support the organization's vision and strategies.
  • History of successfully delivering results in the face of short-term uncertainty, displays the mental flexibility to jump into developing situations and quickly resolve them.
  • Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.
