Job Title: Business Analyst III
Location: Saint Louis, MO
Duration: 32 weeks with possible extension
Schedule: Part-time, 24 hours/week

Job Overview:

This is a part-time, short-term contract role with a possibility of extension. The position requires local candidates only, as it includes monthly in-person meetings. Applicants should have proficiency in Visio and Microsoft Office and must excel in communication, as this is a customer-facing role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop business cases in collaboration with university partners.
  • Work with Project Manager on requirements gathering, management, and communication strategies.
  • Clearly articulate business opportunities and objectives.
  • Conduct current state and root cause analyses when necessary.
  • Plan and use modeling techniques (scope, process, data, interface models, etc.) for requirements analysis.
  • Partner with Project Manager for requirements validation, project scope management, user acceptance, and deployment planning.
  • Conduct feasibility analysis and coordinate project planning to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Gather, analyze, and document data requirements, defining scope and objectives.
  • Prioritize requirements with partners and create conceptual prototypes/mock-ups.
  • Apply business process modeling, traceability, and quality management techniques.
  • Ensure effective communication and problem-solving for requirements management.
  • Facilitate requirements approvals and decision-making.
  • Validate requirements and assist in design, test case reviews, and change request processing.
  • Advise stakeholders on requirements management in conjunction with Project Management.
  • Monitor task prioritization, issues resolution, and compliance with project deliverables.
  • Lead and coordinate requirements management activities and collaborate with other business analysts.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement strategies for business analysis processes.
  • Develop metrics to evaluate the long-term success of solutions and review effectiveness via test results.
  • Provide regular status reports and handle additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Skills Required:

    • Strong business acumen and technical knowledge.
    • Experience in technology and application development, including technical requirements.
    • Excellent listening, research, and attention to detail.
    • Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills, including consulting.
    • Proficiency in systems engineering concepts, cost/benefit analysis, and business case development.
    • Expertise in business analysis methods and modeling techniques.
    • Proven capability in developing functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, data, and process flows.
    • Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
    • Skilled at coordinating multiple tasks and giving presentations.
    • Proficiency in client relationship management, process mapping, project management, and production support.
    • Proficient in MS Office and Visio.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • IIBA CBAP or PMI-PBA certification.
    • Background in business or relevant education.
    • Familiarity with ITIL framework and IT product methodologies.
    • Experience with testing techniques and software.
    • Experience in higher education is a plus.
