As an IT Specialist, GS-2210-13, you will be responsible for:
• Acts as the primary information technology systems liaison between the Executive Office and its Security Officer and the Information System Owners, Contracting Officer’s Representatives, Project Managers, and/or IT Security Support vendors in OPE. This includes scheduling meetings, providing guidance on cybersecurity requirements, and ensuring their respective IT Security obligations are met. Delivers clear presentations to varying audiences for the purpose of understanding OPE’s cybersecurity posture. Understands the scope of OPE’s mission and functions, and how its technological systems work and operates effectively; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in order to advise on the IT portfolio/priorities.
• Performs quality assurance activities to ensure IT Systems meet/exceed established ED cybersecurity Instructions, Standards, Procedures, and Guidance. Provides guidance and assistance to ensure OPE IT systems meet the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework.
• Monitors security assessment activities of IT security teams for multiple IT systems by identifying problems, determining accuracy and relevance of the IT systems to ensure specific requirements of the security and privacy controls within an assessment scope are met. The incumbent uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
• Drafts documents for multiple IT systems to help stakeholders navigate security protocols and to ensure situational awareness of the security and privacy posture of systems; ensures stakeholders are aware of status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Communicates complex technical IT requirements to non-technical personnel.
