- Provides scientific and technical supervisory leadership, advice, direction, and oversight for all aspects of the biological testing programs managed by the BTB, including furnishing policy and procedural guidance to staff.

- Prepares and directs the preparation of papers for publication in scientific journals or presentation at meetings of scientific societies.
- Collaborates with NCI scientists to evaluate the in vivo efficacy of their test agents, both synthetic, biologic, or natural product derived.
- Presents lectures or participates in seminars for universities or scientific groups.
- Oversees the quality of the animals used for the BTB in vivo studies.
