- Supervise permanent, seasonal, and volunteer staff in delivering interpretive and visitor services, including developing work plans, and schedules, and assigning tasks based on division priorities.
- Approve/deny leave, evaluate staff performance, resolve complaints, and ensure staff adherence to policies and procedures.
- Develop and evaluate programs to educate visitors, partners, and employees about park resources.
- Collaborate with the Chief of Interpretation, other park divisions, and U.S. Park Police to manage daily interpretation and visitor operations at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
- Assist in developing and executing short-term operational goals and work plans, including ranger and educational programs, VIP visits, and special interpretive events.
- Ensure fair employment practices in recruitment, selection, promotion, training, recognition, discipline, and status changes, while supporting the Equal Opportunity Program.
- Plan and deliver training for park staff, volunteers, and partners on topics such as customer service, interpretation, media, and resource protection.
- Oversee on-the-job safety and health for all supervised employees.
- Maintain knowledge of labor-management relations and management responsibilities.
- Work with the interpretation team and Museum Services to evaluate the accuracy, style, and relevance of interpretive materials and programs.
