This position serves as the recognized human resources technical authority in the areas of staffing, classification, compensation, and processing of personnel actions. You will serve as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist and be responsible for the supervision and day-to-day operations of center staff servicing the Office of the Commandant and major organization levels of the United States Coast Guard (USCG). The incumbent supervises a staff of 6 HR Specialist(s) and 8 HR Assistant(s).

  • Plans, organizes, and directs staff work assignments while ensuring compliance of applicable delegated authorities, laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Plans, executes, and evaluates long-range goals and objectives to facilitate and accomplish services to meet area of responsibility (AOR) program needs/future goals of the USCG.
  • Develops customer service standards and provides technical direction to staff; explains performance expectations for consistency and quality of work output.
  • Evaluates AOR for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Develops written guidance, procedures, and standards for new and/or changing operational requirements.
  • Technical expert on resolving complex/controversial issues and providing technical advice to staff and customers of serviced organizations.
  • Coordinates, validates, and/or finalizes written material (e.g., Congressional inquiries, FOIA requests, or other request for information).
