- Work jointly with the Chief, Range Operations Branch and Facilities Manager in the planning, development and execution of the programs, policies and procedures involved in the safe operation of live fire ranges and training areas.
- Provide safety review and operational management oversight for functioning Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) Live Fire Ranges and Training Areas.
- Develop and apply live fire safety hazard analysis techniques to ensure that range safety requirements are adhered to in the scheduling of range use, maintenance, modification, and installation of ranges and training facilities.
- Draw and approve Surface Danger Zone diagrams to include minimum/maximum ranges, right and left azimuths of fire, ricochet and dispersion areas for all types of weapon systems.
- Provides safety related input to the Facilities Manager regarding changes to or new firing requests.
