The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13 . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Review, analyze, and independently receive and process incoming Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act of 1974 (PA) requests for access to records maintained by all components of the OIG nationwide, as well as Headquarters OIG units.
- Provide guidance to federal and contract staff for managing records, including the appropriate disposal of records.
- Review and analyze incoming requests by individuals for records pertaining to themselves to determine whether they constitute PA requests under the OIG's PA regulations at 24 C.F.R. Part 2003.
- Provide guidance to federal and contract staff for managing Controlled Unclassified Information, including privacy information.
- Confer with requesters via telephone or email, as appropriate, to clarify the scope of the request, and negotiate with requesters about fees for search, review, and/or copying expenses in a professional manner.
