- Directs a broad, comprehensive fleet management and quality assurance program.
- Participates in analyzing and evaluating major program goals and objectives.
- Acts as the lead in managing all regional fleet related transactions and works collaboratively with the regional property, contract, and budget offices to manage fleet effectively and efficiently.
- Responsible for providing assistance, guidance and approval of fleet transactions for all actions involving fleet assets within the MWR.
- Provide Superintendents and Administrative Officers with objectively based information for making decisions on the administrative and programmatic aspects of park operations and fleet management.
- Provides interpretation and analysis of fleet program, identifying potential problems and/or adverse financial trends, and recommends appropriate corrective actions.
- Responsible for the management of the regional fleet assets, including General Services Administration (GSA) and Department of the Interior (DOI) owned.
- Manages the Government Fleet Charge Card Program for the MWR using the Citibank (or equivalent) payment system to monitor account activity of all fleet cardholder records.
- Utilizes the FBMS and other information systems/databases to track fleet utilization, property responsibility and maintenance cost data to support fleet decision making processes.
- Monitors data quality, reviews maintenance planning and work orders, consolidates park reporting for regional requirements and monitors utilization entered by the parks.
- Serves as the technical expert on the fleet management modules within the system, monitoring incomplete or inaccurate data, answering questions, and providing training to park personnel on fleet related processes or transactions.
- Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the NPS fleet management policy at both the regional and service-wide levels
Physical Demands: The work requires minimal physical exertion, and is usually performed sitting at a desk, using the computer or telephone, or in a meeting. There may be occasional brief visits to parks, or to other locations for training or conferences that involve driving a vehicle or travel by commercial transportation. Employees may carry light items such as books, instruments, and other similar materials.
Working Conditions: The work is usually performed in an office setting, with occasional field trips. The work area normally involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring safety precautions typical of offices or meeting and training rooms. Periodic visits to parks to conduct training or assist in inventories may require some physical exertion and standing or walking on uneven terrain, requiring normal safety precautions.
