Office of Consumer Protection
The Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) is responsible for providing comprehensive support for the examination and ongoing supervision of FHFA's regulated entities including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks in the areas of fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection (including unfair or deceptive acts or practices), and with providing policy, legal, and investigative expertise in these areas.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
The duties listed below are at the EL-13 level. Depending on the grade level selected, the incumbent will perform the following duties supporting the DPIE OCP with varying levels of supervision and difficulty:
- Under the supervision of the Supervisory Attorney-Advisor, serves as an Attorney Advisor (Consumer Protection), providing fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection (including unfair or deceptive acts or practices) legal analysis, including legal standards and supervisory policy.
- Provides input and drafts for legal determinations and conclusions in matters involving fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection (including unfair or deceptive acts or practices).
- Participates in legal research concerning fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection (including unfair or deceptive acts or practices) matters related to the regulated entities.
- Participates in drafting and development of advisory bulletins and other policy documents on fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection (including unfair or deceptive acts or practices) in consultation with other offices and divisions when appropriate
- Provides support for examination staff in fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection matters
- Provides support to Division of Housing Mission and Goals in fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection conservator matters as requested
- Participates on exam teams investigating complex matters in fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection as necessary
- Provides input for development of agency rulemakings related to or implicating fair lending, fair housing, equitable housing, and consumer protection.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
