  • Advise and assist in the development and timely dissemination of information concerning overall program activities and responsibilities. Review, recommend, and implement changes to recreation program components.
  • Assist in research dealing with recreation, facilities operations, and visitor services to meet the needs of the National Conservation Areas (NCA’s) three million annual visitors.
  • Recommend course of action to improve recreational opportunities and resolve problems while protecting and enhancing natural resources and the environment.
  • Provide management with technical, procedural and operational support for the Outdoor Recreation Program, processing and monitoring Special Recreation Permits (SRPs) for events and commercial operation.
  • Work on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents for outdoor recreation and infrastructure related NEPA documents, and on long term planning documents.
  • Serve as coordinator and technical advisor for one or more outdoor recreation programs. Provide technical advice and recommendations based on recreation program needs, priorities, and strategic goals.
  • Provide recommendations to local management concerning current and multi-year recreation program(s) budget funding. Recommend priorities to be included in Annual Work Plans (AWP) related to the recreation program(s) managed.
  • Carries out supervisory duties in areas such as Diversity and EEO; internal management controls; merit system principles; safety and occupational health obligations; performance management; management of ethics, conduct.
