The Assistant Director, Business Innovation Section, engages and collaborates with colleagues both within and outside of the CFOO to identify, develop, and promote technology-driven solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business operations.
- Manages, facilitates, coordinates, and integrates responses to internal and external requests related to CFOO technological innovation, while serving as a transformation leader.
- Develops short-and long-range plans for transformation and innovation, establishes associated priorities, and ensures plans, projects and activities support CFOO organizational goals and objectives.
- Provides vision and perspective to ensure consistency and full understanding of the strategic implications, risks, and benefits of innovation efforts.
- Facilitates innovation and transformation processes by collaborating across the CFOO, and partnering withother FDIC Divisions/Offices, to strategically address challenges to the adoption of technology.
- Collaborates with appropriate FDIC officials to ensure innovation and transformation awareness, development of related training programs, and appropriate evaluation and implementation of new technology-based products, services and processes.
- Develops, leads, and garners support for the most promising proofs of concept and pilots to promote these for implementation and adoption. Partners with the FDIC’s Divisions and Offices to facilitate research and development in technological innovation and transformation that are relevant to the CFOO’s mission and priorities. Spearheads hands-onexperimentation through pilots, proofs of concept, and prototypes in a lab or sandbox setting.
- Develops and provides guidance, processes, procedures, and transparent communications on innovation activities and directs responses to program inquiries.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management authority directly or indirectly through subordinate senior managers to include: planning, assigning, and reviewing work products of subordinates; establishing guidelines and performance expectations; and, evaluating work performance and providing feedback. Identifies training and developmental needs for staff and provides regular recognition of staff. Works in collaboration with the appropriate Human Resources and Legal staff to administer disciplinary action. Hears and resolves grievances or other disputes as appropriate. Approves/disapproves requests for leave, telework, travel, training, etc. Ensures that programs are administered effectively and in accordance with broadly stated objectives and priorities.
