About The Role

At Modular, we are at a pivotal point in our growth as we expand our capabilities in AI through our next-generation AI platform, MAX. Our focus spans across product development, customer acquisition and retention, commercialization and pricing, and scaling internal operations to support our ambitious vision. To ensure success in these areas, we are committed to adopting a data-driven approach in all aspects of planning, execution, and retrospection.

We are seeking a part-time highly skilled Data Analyst to work 15-20 hours per week for a 6 month contract with the potential to extend. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a robust foundation in data analytics. This role is for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about transforming data into actionable insights that influence decision-making across Product, Engineering, Growth/Marketing, Operations, with growth opportunities to scale & mature the Analytics function at Modular.

LOCATION: Candidates based in the US welcome to apply. You can work in our office in Los Altos, CA or remotely from home.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, maintain dashboards & analytical reports of key company metrics.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of Data Culture to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Develop models, conduct complex data analysis to forecast trends, business impact.
  • Enable data-driven decision-making across all levels of the organization.
  • Act as liaison between Product & Data Platform to stay aligned on short & long-term goals.
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their data needs, translate into clear, actionable analytics insights.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools to enhance our data visualization, analytics capabilities.
  • Develop and standardize analytical processes to boost efficiency across the team.

What You Bring To The Table

  • 5+ years in data analyst role with track record leveraging data to drive business impact.
  • Expertise in SQL & dbt, experience building from scratch dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or similar & using data analysis libraries such as Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, Seaborn etc.
  • Experience with data analysis tools like Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab, Hex, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, translating business/stakeholder needs to desired dashboards & results.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to collect, analyze, disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working with reverse ETL to feed useful data back to 3rd party systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to articulate insights clearly.

Helpful, But Not Required

  • Experience in forecasting, statistics, data modeling techniques.
  • Experience with data workflow automation tools (e.g. Airflow, Argo, Dagster or similar)
  • Experience in Python, Go, containerization, or curious to learn.
  • Have worked in startups before, with ability to navigate fast-moving, highly dynamic teams.

The estimated hourly range for this role to be performed in the US, regardless of the state, is $80.00 - $120.00 USD.

The hourly rate for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors, which include but are not limited to education, training, work experience, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The total compensation for a candidate will also include annual target bonus, equity, and benefits, with equity making up a significant portion of your total compensation.
