One of the largest entertainment and media corporations in the world is looking to hire a Database Administrator III on an 18-month contract basis.

The database administrator manages the database fleets, maintains secure, optimized and highly available databases, data warehouses and lake houses. This includes working with multiple project teams to determine changes needed to both the database and surrounding infrastructure, and then implementing those changes. Our DBA s support ongoing project efforts and day-to-day support activities for the department. The team is also looking for new technical innovations to improve developers experience, systems performance and overall operations; costs

Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role

  • Day-to-day operational management of Redshift Clusters and RDS DBs
  • Perform Redshift user/security tasks as needed (user/group management, password management, IAM Roles/Policies)
  • Analyze production workloads and develop strategies to run optimized Redshift clusters with scale and efficiency.
  • Provide architecture guidance and support to technical leads.
  • Help develop code/SQLs for data assets, identify performance tuning opportunities and work with developers to improve production systems.
  • Develop monitoring/recovery automation to identify and resolve issues with high SLA
  • Research new technologies and develop proofs of concept. Propose tech improvements and new capabilities.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

  1. Redshift or RDS Experience: 3+ years of experience
  2. AWS Infrastructure Experience: 2+ years of experience
  3. Python/Jenkins Experience: 2+ years of experience

Technology requirements:

  • 3+ years experience with AWS Services: Redshift, RDS, S3, EC2, Athena, Glue, Lake Formation (Data Governance), Sagemaker FeatureStore, Snowflake
  • 2+ years experience with AWS Security Mechanisms: Redshift security, IAM permissions (User Groups, Roles, Policies, Instance Profiles), S3 Security
  • Define and Automation of DB admin functions (DevOps) using Python, Jenkins, Airflow, Datadog, Git (Code Management system), Linux, Jira (Ticketing System)

Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements

  1. Experience with DynamoDB, OpenSearch is a nice to have
  2. Degree or certs aligning with role.
