
Mainframe Systems Programmer ( DASD / Hardware Config / Data Migration)

The Senior Solution Engineer will be responsible for configuration of Storage equipment such as DASD AND/OR TAPE . During new client migrations, the Storage Solution Engineer will be a point person for moving the Customer's data into our client's data center or coordinate these services from a vendor. Will also set up replication for Customer data from point to point or as part of a grid. Will serve as an escalation point for steady state storage issues where the Storage team is unable to find resolution.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years senior level experience working Mainframe Storage DASD AND / OR TAPE
- Must be familiar with the concept of data replication with Experience in Copy Service Manager
- Senior level knowledge of mainframe storage management environments like DFSMS, FDR/ABR, CA-1, DFRMM or equivalent.
- Experience supporting Disaster Recovery within a mainframe environment.
- Understanding of migration of data from one subsystem to another for DASD AND /OR TAPE
- Need experience with configuration of IBM DS8000 series or Dell PowerMax functions.
- Experience with Logical and Physical storage management
- Must be familiar with the concept of data replication ( Copy Service Manager or DSCLI ) OR similar products for Dell PowerMax ( good knowledge of Unisphere). Dell DLM/DD (need to be able to interact with Mtree on DD)
- Experience with TAPE - TS7700 grid knowledge and configuration- a plus
- Experience with TAPE COPY ( Rocket or 21st Century) or COPY CAT OR Dell's TAPE replication products
- Experience with TDMF or FDR/PAS ( have executed either of these processes in the past (for moving from one subsystem to another)
- FCIP / FICON configuration knowledge (nice to have not required for this position)
- GDDR knowledge ( Nice to have. Not required)-
- GDPS Knowledge (Nice to have. Not required)
Job Description
- Design storage solutions to meet client and business requirements. Will lead projects to implement solutions to improve client storage environment
- The successful candidate will FLASH storage or pause replication prior to DR testing
- During testing the associate will respond to any reported issues such as inability to reach storage devices or missing data. Will document issues or lessons learned for future tests.
- Associate will also be engaged with new client migrations to become familiar with new clients and position that client for future DR testing.
- Will serve as an escalation point for DR storage issues where the testing team is unable to find resolution. Tests are scheduled months in advance the associates will know what days testing will occur.
- There is no 24x7 or on-call support with this role except when that support pertains to an active Disaster Recovery test. After hours work will be rare, and typically known well in advance.
The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is ($80-$90). Actual hourly rate will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law.
