The Role You’ll Contribute
This position is responsible for the scheduling of procedures for Surgery, Endoscopy, Ambulatory Services Clinic (A.S.C.), Pain Management Center and Cath Lab. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with the age specific needs of the following patient populations: geriatrics, adult, adolescent and pediatric. Responsible to adhere to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan, and to all the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

The Role You’ll Contribute
This position is responsible for the scheduling of procedures for Surgery, Endoscopy, Ambulatory Services Clinic (A.S.C.), Pain Management Center and Cath Lab. The Value You’ll Bring To The Team
- Enters all patient and surgical data into the computerized scheduling system.
- Creates and maintains the surgical scheduling system. Creates surgical slots to accommodate surgery procedure. Calls appropriate reps for all required equipment needed for the surgical procedure.
- Answers the telephone and assists physicians and their staff in a prompt and courteous manner. Relays messages and information and transfers calls as needed.
- Avoid duplicate medical record numbers by proper identification of each patient by social security number, last name, first name, and date of birth for previously assigned medical record numbers.
- Enters patient orders and other information into the patient record via the scheduling system.
- Establishes an effective flow of the patient throughout the facility by scheduling with departments involved, the procedures/tests accepted, taking into account all the pre-test needs, time needed for test and any interactions if multiple tests are involved.
- Maintains current knowledge of Medicare and insurance regulations as related to processes, hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for obtaining knowledge of pre-authorization requirements of payers. Responsible for knowledge of payer contracts to ensure notifications of out of network services prior to patient scheduling.
- Acts as a liaison to address problem situations involving patient routing and department schedules by effectively communicating with all areas involved. Acts as a public relations representative for the hospital. Responsible for effectively communicating with other departments and outside parties.
- Responsible for adhering to the hospital Corporate Compliance plan, Policies and Procedures and to the rules and regulations of all local, state and Federal agencies and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.
- Is responsible for performing and completing of any other tasks or projects assigned by the Director and/or Manager.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- 2 years of experience in Surgical Scheduling, Pre-Access, Patient Access, Admission or Hospital Business office
- Must have typing skills of at least 45 wpm
- Associate's Degree
- Medical Coding experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
