Overview
We are seeking a UX Program Manager / UX Design Strategist to join United's Core UX Team. This role focuses on resource allocation, project oversight, and strategic coordination across UX initiatives. Working closely with UX Directors and Managers, this person will provide a high-level perspective on ongoing projects, ensuring teams are aligned, resources are effectively distributed, and project roadmaps are clear.
This is not a hands-on UX design role-rather, it is a strategic and operational position ensuring UX teams work efficiently and cohesively within the broader product and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
<>Project & Resource Management</>- Oversee project allocation, ensuring UX designers are assigned to initiatives based on priority and capacity.
- Maintain a bird's-eye view of ongoing UX projects, managing dependencies and ensuring teams are aligned.
- Collaborate with UX Directors and Managers to translate strategic goals into actionable workflows for design teams.
- Track project timelines and ensure smooth execution across multiple teams.
- Act as the liaison between UX, Product, and Engineering teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Support leadership in defining and executing United's digital product strategy from a UX program perspective.
- Advocate for user-centered decision-making by ensuring design projects align with customer and business needs.
- Ensure consistency and efficiency across UX projects by monitoring adherence to best practices and processes.
- Facilitate collaboration between UX designers, product managers, and engineering teams to improve workflows.
- Improve project efficiency by identifying bottlenecks, refining processes, and implementing best practices for UX team operations.
- Maintain clear documentation of UX project roadmaps, resource plans, and cross-team dependencies.
- Partner with leadership to streamline UX operations and enhance team productivity.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in UX Program Management, UX Operations, or Design Strategy (or similar roles).
- Strong knowledge of UX workflows, design processes, and team structures (without needing hands-on design expertise).
- Experience working in large-scale digital product environments within a highly collaborative setting.
- Proficiency in Figma and other related UX software (to understand team workflows).
- Strong project management and resource planning skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple teams, ensuring alignment between UX and business objectives.
- Experience managing or supporting UX design systems (preferred but not required).
- Location: Hybrid - Must be local to Chicago or Houston (CST)
- Onsite Requirement: Approx. once per week
- Contract Duration: Ongoing Contract
- Work Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST
- Pay Rate: $60-79 per hour - Chicago
