This position assists with the oversight of day-to-day strategic plan implementation of the Educational Partnerships Unit for the office of the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management. The Assistant Director will develop student recruitment activities for students from partnering institutions. The Assistant Director will actively navigate the Chicagoland area, build relationships with Chicago Public Schools, Charter Schools, and private schools to increase the pipeline for students to UIC. Additionally, the Assistant Director will work with community college personnel as well as community-based organizations with a focus on academics and college readiness. Finally, the successful candidate will create campus immersion experiences for students as well as support campus wide recruitment and yielding events.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Educational Partnerships to execute strategic plans, recruitment programming, outreach, multi-channel initiatives, and communication plans.
- Coordinate recruitment visits to high schools, two-year colleges and community agencies. Disseminate UIC information at campus open houses, local and national college fairs, and day/night/weekend events as they relate to student recruitment.
- Utilize enrollment management principles to meet the undergraduate enrollment goals of the University by working collaboratively with the Enrollment Management personnel and various units.
- Advise prospective students (traditional, transfer, and non-traditional students) on academic and other matters, such as applying to UIC, financial aid, and scholarships.
- Initiate face-to-face sessions with students and families to monitor success of recruitment efforts.
- Establish a network with outside communities to improve educational opportunities. Prepare and conduct presentations at local schools and other organizations on the importance of higher education for underserved communities.
- Facilitate pre-college workshops and serve as an information resource for prospective students.
- Conduct enrollment research, analyze historical enrollment data and develop reports to monitor trends and progress towards campus goals.
- Create and maintain student data base of prospective students to communicate regarding various UIC programs and events.
- Plan, organize and coordinate programs for target populations.
- Represent EEP on campus wide committees when necessary.
- Assist the Director in the development of sustainable and innovative initiatives with community partners.
- Assist with identifying and engaging internal/external partners to complement strategic unit plans, including publicizing programs, activities and accomplishments.
- Provide supervision to student workers.
- Serve as a speaker, as needed, during educational partnership activities as well as high profile and public relations events.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) working with minority groups, low-income and/or first-generation students as well as experience developing and analyzing student recruitment programs. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
- Experience working at a college or university within educational program development, student advising and/or program administration.
- Experience working with minority/underserved students.
- Demonstrated knowledge working with audiences from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to maintain effective working relations with departments, employees and managers at all levels and external constituencies (parents, high schools, other colleges/universities).
- Demonstrated ability to develop supportive interactions with students in one-on-one and group situations.
- Strong project management skills.
- Intermediate level experience using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access.
- Ability to travel overnight locally, statewide, nationally and internationally
