Database Administrator
This position will oversee database operations across enterprise applications, websites, and supporting services while managing and maintaining Linux-based systems for internal and external customers. The role includes implementing operational changes, collaborating with delivery teams on new technology transitions, and occasionally performing design and delivery work when required by the Systems Delivery team. The Database Administrator will apply strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills to identify, address, and resolve issues to optimize the performance of the systems.
Key responsibilities will include providing daily, weekly, and monthly operational support for database solutions such as MongoDB, MySQL, Azure, AWS, and Google database services. The Database Administrator will oversee routine database maintenance, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, monitoring, and physical sizing. Collaboration with IT Security will be required to develop policies and procedures that ensure compliance across database operations. Additionally, the role will involve evaluating database operations for efficiency, implementing automation features, and contributing to the architecture, design, and delivery of database solutions. Documentation and cross-training will also be expected to ensure service continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly operational support for database solutions such as MongoDB, MySQL, Azure, AWS, and Google database services.
- Oversee routine database maintenance, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, monitoring, and physical sizing.
- Collaborate with IT Security to develop policies and procedures for database operations compliance.
- Evaluate database operations for efficiencies and implement automation features to improve performance.
- Contribute to the architecture, design, and delivery of database solutions as assigned by the Systems Delivery team.
- Document database operations and provide cross-training to ensure service continuity.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with database operations, Linux-based systems, or a similar role.
- Experience with MongoDB, MySQL, Azure, AWS, and Google database services is required.
- Experience in IT Security collaboration and compliance processes is highly preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Relevant certifications such as MongoDB Certified DBA, AWS Certified Database Specialty, or similar are preferred.
- Ability to work in a remote position and manage operations across various regions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of database management and administration practices.
- Proficiency in Linux-based systems, MongoDB, MySQL, Azure, AWS, and Google database services.
- Experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery, and database sizing.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.

- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
Additional Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with automation and scripting for database operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices and database compliance standards.
- Ability to mentor and cross-train others.
