Drafter/Designer Contract Project

At Smart Batch Systems, we manufacture automated, mobile batch plants for specialty construction contractors. Our team is currently looking for a contract Drafter/Designer with strong SolidWorks skills to create and update parts and assembly models, as well as create detail drawings. Additionally, this person will support the engineering function by furthering the concept development of R&D projects and supporting other documentation needs such as manuals, assembly or maintenance instructions, etc., as assigned. This individual may also be asked to contact vendors, obtain quotes and other support activities. This opportunity is a six-month contract with the possibility to extend.

Description Summary

The contractor’s primary responsibility is to maintain the integrity of intellectual property used by fabricators, assemblers, operators, and maintenance/repair personnel while strictly adhering to strict design and document control practices. All deliverable content shall match related references throughout the ‘system.’

Duties And Responsibilities

• Create/update SolidWorks part models and assemblies while adhering to bill of material structures
• Create/update SolidWorks detail drawings
• Aid with the design and development of inspection resources
• Maintain accurate, fully leveled, costed bills of material
• Setup and maintain kits
• Maintain manual drawings and content for parts, operations, maintenance, and training manuals.
• Interacting with vendors
• Maintain plant documentation as assigned.

Education And Experience

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience using SolidWorks and supporting mechanical engineering projects
• Associates Degree preferred
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

• Must be eligible to work in the US.
  
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

• Ability to lift 50-70 lbs.
• Adhere to safety practices and programs
• Able to work in a Warehouse and Office environment
• Fluctuating work environment temperatures
• PPE required
• Minimal travel – may be asked to visit field locations where equipment is operating (No driving required)
