Qualifications

For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing data on work operations, mishaps, and safety practices to prepare reports of findings that propose corrective measures for unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices; 2) Investigating mishaps, hazard reports, and unsafe or unhealthful working conditions to protect personnel and property; 3 Advising personnel on safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes; 4) Conducting safety and occupational health inspections and surveys to evaluate effectiveness of unit safety program. NOTE: All experience must be demonstrated in resume to be considered for the position.

For GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Inspecting the work environment and identifying hazardous operational condition; 2) Investigating accidents and identifying the cause; 3) Preparing reports of inspection findings and accident investigations (e.g. witness statements, description of property damage, extent of injuries and contributing elements of mishaps and hazardous conditions occurring in the work environment). NOTE: All experience must be demonstrated in resume to be considered for the position.

A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

OR

Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

OR

OR

Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

OR
