Job Title: Private Container Image Registry Engineer
Location: Remote

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Private Container Image Registry Engineer to manage the lifecycle of container images, maintain a secure and efficient container image registry, and collaborate with vendors to track and remediate vulnerabilities in containerized environments. The successful candidate will report directly to the HCR Manager and work closely with development, security, and operations teams to ensure the continuous delivery of secure and compliant container images. This role will also involve advocating within the development community on the importance of using the private container registry to reduce exposure risks and minimize remediation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

< data-start="1097" data-end="1133">Container Image Management:</>
  • Drive improvements in the storage, distribution, and access control of container images in the private image registry.
  • Collaborate with vendors providing clean container images and help remediate vulnerabilities in those images.
  • Write and implement lifecycle management policies including image cleanup, retention policies, and versioning.
  • Ensure proper tagging, labeling, and documentation of container images by communicating with development teams.
< data-start="1595" data-end="1629">Vulnerability Management:</>
  • Continuously monitor container images for vulnerabilities using automated scanning tools.
  • Work with vendors to patch, update, or replace insecure container images within SLA timeframes.
  • Maintain and update incident response plans for container image security breaches or vulnerabilities.
< data-start="1925" data-end="1970">Registry Optimization & Maintenance:</>
  • Perform routine audits, maintenance, and upgrades on the container image registry to ensure it meets current standards.
< data-start="2094" data-end="2125">Policy and Compliance:</>
  • Establish governance policies for image publishing, access control, and permissions to ensure secure image distribution, in collaboration with the Automation Team (E3).
  • Work with the E3 and Security teams to enforce the exclusive use of the private container registry to reduce vulnerabilities across the enterprise.

  • Collaborate with DevOps, development, and security teams to streamline container deployment pipelines and enhance CI/CD processes.
  • Provide guidance and best practices to development teams for the secure creation and management of container images.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience managing private container image registries.
  • Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  • Strong understanding of container image security, vulnerability scanning tools, and remediation processes.
  • Experience with cloud service platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and container orchestration (EKS, AKS, GKE).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating image registries with DevOps tools.
  • Solid understanding of access controls, RBAC, and container security best practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with container signing tools and container image security compliance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with automated patch management and incident response in containerized environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards for container security.
