Job Summary:

Links Global is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Budget Analyst to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for the entire budget cycle, from analyzing funding needs to preparing justifications and monitoring expenditures for a federal government client. This role is crucial for ensuring the government agency operates within its budget and achieves its strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze budget requests from program offices, considering factors such as program performance, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with agency priorities
  • Prepare and justify budget estimates for assigned programs, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Compile and analyze budget data using spreadsheets and financial management software
  • Monitor and track budget expenditures throughout the fiscal year, identifying and reporting any variances or potential issues
  • Assist with the development and implementation of budget control measures
  • Prepare reports and briefings on budget performance for agency leadership and stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date on federal budget policies, appropriation laws, and agency budget guidelines
  • Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to ensure effective budget planning and execution
  • May participate in developing performance measures to track program effectiveness and inform future budget allocations
  • Present budget plans and reports to federal government program managers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in government budgeting or a relevant financial analysis role
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare clear and concise budget justifications and reports
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial management software programs
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • U.S. citizenship is required
