Sr. Mechanical Engineer P.E. (Data Centers)

Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and implementation of technology focused architectural/engineering building projects. Experience with all work phases including condition assessment and reporting, design development, production of construction documents (drawings and specifications), and construction administration. Project types including Data Centers, Critical Infrastructure Buildings, Technology and Communication Facilities, E911 and other Emergency Management Facilities. This position is open in our Midtown Manhattan office with Projects and clients are located throughout the country.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering from ABET Accredited University Required
  • 8-15 yrs of Mechanical (HVAC) Engineering & Design (Plumbing & Fire Protection experience is a plus)
  • Licensed P.E. in NY or ability to gain reciprocity.
  • Strong understanding of all A/E disciplines and project coordination
  • Experience with technically complex project types
  • Ability to assume responsibility, effectively and cohesively interface and communicate with clients, architects, and other trades.
  • Present design options to the rest of the team, architects, and clients for evaluation.
  • Productively work and manage within a team environment on multiple design and construction projects
  • Detail oriented - able to effectively manage time and budget to meet project deliverables and schedules
  • Field experience (understanding of construction principles, methods. and best practices)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD MEP 3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, Prolog, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);

(Revit MEP to prepare construction documents & sketches in 3D environment a plus)
  • Commissioning (Cx) experience a plus
  • LEED Certification and Green Building initiatives preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

DUTIES:
  • Lead project design and development from concept through construction; Act as a senior technical mechanical engineer for the assigned projects.. Oversee, manage, and mentor mechanical engineering team members
  • Identify value engineering and constructability options for projects designed in-house as well as those designed by outside consultants
  • Perform studies to review and evaluate existing mechanical systems and provide solution to address specific client's goals including energy and / or performance improvements, equipment upgrade / replacement, end of life evaluation considering costs, available space, time limitations, energy goals, project timeline and related economic factors
  • Conduct engineering calculations, load calculations, equipment selection, energy analysis, psychrometric, controls, fixture loading, pressure loss, ducts sizing, writing specifications, etc.
  • Attend and participate in design and construction meetings; Prepare construction documents (drawings and specifications), addendum, bulletins, transmittals, etc.
  • Review & respond to RFIs, submittals, and other communications. Issue response to contractors; Review & approve field design change requests prepared by field and area engineers. Interface with project managers and field staff throughout the design and construction of projects.
  • Travel to project sites to conduct and collect data for evaluation, complete field surveys, construction observations, and punch list
  • Fully versed in International, National, State and Local Codes, Rules, and Regulations, NYC Mechanical, Building, Energy Conservation, and Fire Protection codes as well as NFPA, etc.
  • Complete code required energy compliance documents and LEED calculations and certifications
