Job Title: Lead Data Governance with Metadata and Data Catalog

Location: Mentor, OH - Hybrid 3 days onsite in a week

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Metadata and Data Catalog Lead to oversee and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's metadata management strategy. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of metadata management, data governance, data quality, and data management best practices. This role will be instrumental in ensuring data accessibility, consistency, and trustworthiness across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the BI & Analytics leadership and Enterprise Data Architect to develop and implement a comprehensive metadata management strategy aligned with business objectives and Data & Analytics Strategy.
  • Provide leadership and support for the development and operations of a metadata repository and central portal (data marketplace) for BI and data assets, data and BI knowledge base and training materials, rules and policies for data uses, data stewardship, and data product catalog.
  • Define the processes and roles to build and maintain a robust centrally managed Enterprise Data Catalog and Business Glossary.
  • Refine methodology and data stewardship processes for management of data definitions and inventory of data assets and other related metadata in the business glossary s and data catalog s central repository.
  • Embed metadata and data quality best practices into new BI and analytics application development, project management methodology and the data environment.
  • Help with defining requirements (eg., mandatory and optional metadata fields), standards and templates to capture metadata attributes for the Business Glossary and the Data Catalog.
  • Work with data stewards and appropriate parties to make sure that all key data elements and data assets have accurate business definitions and required metadata is captured.
  • Educate and formally train Data Stewards and other Data Governance roles in best practices, standard processes and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging metadata management and data catalog technologies and industry trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 4 years Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong experience in metadata management, data governance, or data cataloging, working with platforms like Colibra, Alation, or Informatica IDGC
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data catalogs.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, data quality, and data lineage.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data modeling and data profiling tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of data architecture and data engineering concepts.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion.
