TalentoHC is partnered with an enterprise organization seeking a Network Engineer to support their wireless network on a contract basis.

The Wireless Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, configuring, implementing, testing, and supporting wireless network infrastructure and applications across the enterprise. This role will collaborate with peer engineering teams to establish best practices, processes, standards, and configuration management. The engineer will assess vendor hardware, software, and components for performance and compatibility, providing recommendations to IT leadership. Additionally, this role will troubleshoot, debug, and modify vendor-supplied utilities as needed while maintaining comprehensive technical documentation. The engineer will ensure that network solutions are stable, secure, scalable, and cost-effective, while also providing high-level support to administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on emerging technologies through continuous learning.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in engineering workflows.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Perform occasional physical activities such as walking, bending, reaching, and standing.
  • Maintain clear communication with management and peers, ensuring progress updates.
  • Regularly review tasks and project scope with team members and leadership.
  • Adapt to shifting business needs and priorities.
  • Travel up to 20% as needed (Dallas, Chicago, New York).

Experience

  • Extensive experience with Cisco, Aruba, and cellular network engineering.
  • Proficiency in capacity planning, risk assessment, network design, and implementation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Working knowledge of network security applications, protocols, and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in telecommunications and network hardware/software components.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in WLAN architecture, particularly Cisco WLC and Aruba AVC solutions.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking, OSI model, and network protocols.
  • Strong grasp of WLAN, mobile networking concepts, and management tools.
  • Familiarity with Radio Access Networks, 5G, private/public LTE, and emerging technologies.
  • Proficiency in RF site survey tools (Ekahau, RF Scanners, Wireshark).
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 switching (VLANs, 802.1w, STP, RSTP, Port security) and Layer 3 routing (OSPF, VRRP, BGP, EIGRP).
  • Expertise in network security (802.1x, MAC authentication, ACLs, RADIUS, Certificate Authority).
  • Experience with Cisco ISE, DNA Center, Catalyst Center, and IDS/IPS.
  • Working knowledge of firewalls/security (Palo Alto, Panorama, NAT, ACLs, failover).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment (ISR, ASR, Catalyst, Nexus).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in wireless network engineering.
  • Deep knowledge of wireless networking protocols (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with wireless LAN controllers and network monitoring tools.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture and industry best practices.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA Wireless, CWNA, CWSP) preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work across multiple teams and functions.
