Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity and Systems Administrator to manage system backups, data recovery, cybersecurity compliance, and system performance for a variety of virtual environments and applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system and network administration, with a focus on maintaining security and optimizing system performance. You will work closely with leadership to recommend improvements and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct system backups and data recovery for hypervisors, virtual hosts, virtual appliances, application servers, and security logs. Ensure daily incremental backups and weekly image backups are performed, and complete data recovery within 24 hours once backup media is provided.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to leadership on architectural improvements and lifecycle enhancements, including estimated implementation costs and timeframes.
- Maintain system and application security, including the updating of Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages and ensuring compliance with current cybersecurity policies.
- Ensure compliance with Computer Network Defense (CND) standards as per CMSA LANT's Cybersecurity/Vulnerability Management Program, managing monthly Configuration Management (CM) meetings and changes.
- Perform routine system audits, backups, file restoration, and system updates.
- Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes to maintain optimal system performance.
- Troubleshoot and maintain databases required to support applications.
- Configure and manage endpoint security servers and products.
- Develop scripts or programs to automate processes as needed.
- Assist in the creation of Risk Management Framework (RMF) security packages using Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) and ensure compliance with Navy Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) requirements.
- Review and revise eMASS security controls, ensuring that all policies meet security requirements.
- Coordinate with Fleet Forces Command Package Submission Officers and Navy Qualified Validators to update RMF security packages, manage task status, and schedule control validation.
- Assist with network vulnerability analysis, risk mitigation, and tracking Plan of Action and Milestone (POAM) tasks using Xacta.
- Provide ongoing support for security package creation, security control assessments, risk assessments, POAM creation/remediation, and continuous monitoring for various system packages.
- Ensure network and security event monitoring dashboards are accessible and functional within the Network Operations Center during business hours.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field with five (5) years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in the cybersecurity field, or ten (10) years of relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Red Hat KVM, including backup, storage, and restoration practices.
- Experience in conducting system/network vulnerability analysis, risk assessment, and risk mitigation.
Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and system performance tuning skills.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
