Sales Director Utilities / Engineering Services

Techwave is an international Technology and Engineering Services firm headquartered in Houston, Texas. Our Engineering business unit has seen explosive growth and we re looking for a new Sales Director to capitalize on our success and grow the business practice in North America.

As a Techwave Sales Director, you will use your business development expertise to prospect and grow Techwave s Engineering customer base by selling industry leading solutions and services to Utility providers throughout North America.

This is a quota carrying, individual contributor role with a career path to building and managing Utility Sales for the North America team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and generate new business in the Utilities domain
  • Develop and present services and solutions for sales proposals to potential clients
  • Develop successful go-to-market strategies, working closely with competency and delivery teams
  • Actively participate in customer marketing events and industry trade shows (drive attendance, attend events, follow-up with lead lists)
  • Develop strong relationships in the industry through thought leadership
  • Ensure sales opportunities are accurately qualified and mapped to the customer budget cycle and aligned with Techwave s Delivery and Competency teams
  • Forecast and report sales/revenue projections to Sales Management and deliver a predictable pipeline to drive forecast accuracy

Requirements:

Proven record of establishing new markets and developing strategic relationships. Experience selling Utilities Engineering services including but not limited to:

  • Field Service Inventory: pole surveying, data collection and field auditing.
  • Engineering and Design: Transmission and Distribution engineering planning, design, and operating activities including projects that involve preparation of power system analysis, load flow, and related studies, etc.
  • Geospatial Services: Data maintenance of GIS data systems including business as usual work order postings, data analytics, field tool optimization support, etc. (Esri, Smallworld, IQGeo)
  • Grid Modernization: Electric utility grid modernization initiatives involving Distribution Automation (DA), Volt-VAR Optimization (VVO), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distribution Energy Resources (DER), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), or related technologies.

Sales Director:

The Sales Director position is a key member of the management team responsible for selling high quality Engineering services and solutions.

The Sales Director will be part of an established team that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned utilities. These consulting services provide clients with various distribution and transmission planning tasks and projects nationwide.

The Sales Director will work on a variety of new business and existing business projects for various clients. This position is responsible for account managing, leading, and executing a range of projects in relation to data management, planning, and design activities within the gas and electric utility sector.

The position will require a mixture of new sales, client management and technical capabilities. These tasks will include, but are not limited to, an understanding of work being performed, hunting for new opportunities and new clients, as well as regular communication with existing clients regarding project performance, new opportunities and support of our project management teams around technical and commercial progress.

Sales Director Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electric power industry and knowledge of business issues associated with gas and electric Utilities
  • General knowledge of distribution and transmission operating systems and business units
  • Some knowledge of relevant FERC, PUC, and NERC compliance standards to support industry trends
  • Ability to review client RFP documents and develop cost estimates and detailed scope of work documents
  • Ability to take direction from and discuss decisions with supervisor, and to coordinate with peers on projects
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Periodic travel will be required
