POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Director is responsible for managing, coordinating and directing projects, tools and personnel related to operations and sales initiatives, pricing models, contracts, bids, rates, and other items and systems related to the performance and profitability of the company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION

  • Create and implement measurement tools & work with Operations managers & employees to manage all divisions for continuous improvement & growth. This includes employee performance reviews, managing workloads and teams to ensure workflow & responsibilities are established, communicated and implemented.
  • Establish growth goals for all specialized operations divisions. (Flatbed, Dedicated, Spot Market, Reefer / Intermodal.) Delegate & manage responsibility to ensure that growth strategy & goals are met & maintained.
  • Assist Project Managers in design, implementation & managing of TMS systems to ensure efficiency & improvements.
  • Educate all offices on capacity and market trends to ensure competitive pricing and sufficient service for both customers and carriers.
  • Work directly with the Operations managers to analyze bid awards and market trends to determine capacity vs volume, to maximize growth while ensuring service, competitive pricing and profitability.
  • Assist Account Managers & Sales Reps in addressing customers both verbally and through email, to ensure we are adjusting pricing, handling issues & problem solving to expectations. Some travel and customer visits may also be required.
  • Work with Employee Development to establish consistent training, focusing on relative business needs & goals, to ensure value-added education.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

OTHER SIGNIFICANTJOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

  • Schedule Operations shifts to ensure we have proper coverage during the week, after hours and on weekends.
  • Travel, when needed, to maintain and foster relationships with customers & carriers.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma with a significant Transportation and Logistics experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics, or 3-5 years management experience in the logistics industry.

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

  • Knowledgeable of the Microsoft Excel program.
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work within time constraints and handle the pressure associate with deadlines.
  • Effective communication and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently to provide results.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sit (at a desk) for prolonged periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office.
