National Account Manager

MARSHALLTOWN is seeking a National Accounts Manager to manage and grow our business with Lowe’s Home Improvement. This role is a great opportunity for individuals with experience in large account management or retail buying and support functions, particularly those with knowledge of the home improvement store environment or the operational dynamics of Lowe’s, Home Depot, or similar DIY retailers. Experience working with tools or products commonly used by trade professionals and contractors is also highly valued. We are looking for a motivated and adaptable National Accounts Manager who has a background in retail sales, account management, or buying, particularly at Lowe’s, Home Depot, or other large DIY retailers. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored sales strategies that optimize MARSHALLTOWN’s performance within assigned Lowe’s categories, ensuring alignment with broader company objectives.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Lowe’s account, including order reporting, new product launches, category reviews, and promotional planning.
- Leverage knowledge of Lowe’s systems, processes, and merchant dynamics to streamline operations, identify opportunities, and deliver measurable growth.
- Partner with Lowe’s merchant teams, marketing, and internal stakeholders to execute effective programs and ensure alignment across all initiatives.
- Create and maintain accurate sales forecasts and annual plans, aligning projections with MARSHALLTOWN’s growth targets and Lowe’s expectations.
- Conduct ongoing sales performance analyses, generate actionable insights, and present findings to MARSHALLTOWN leadership to inform strategic decisions.
- Build and nurture trusted relationships with Lowe’s merchants, operations teams, and key internal stakeholders to foster open communication and long-term success.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Lowe’s buyers and internal teams, promptly resolving inquiries and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
- Represent MARSHALLTOWN at trade shows, customer conventions, and Lowe’s events to promote brand visibility and foster customer relationships.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- 4-7 years of relevant experience in account management, retail buying/support, sales, or similar roles, ideally within DIY retailers like Lowe’s, Home Depot, or Menards.
- Solid understanding of retail operations, including internal systems, category management, and buying cycles specific to large DIY or Big Box retailers.
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales and margin goals through effective account management and strategic planning.
- Strong capabilities in sales forecasting, point-of-sale (POS) analysis, and budget management to support data-driven decision-making.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including merchants, buyers, and internal teams.
- Self-motivated and flexible, with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn new tools, processes, and strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), familiarity with Lowe’s Supplier Portal, and experience with CRM tools preferred.
- Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities, with a track record of identifying opportunities and overcoming challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership both internally and externally.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and coordinate projects across cross-functional teams efficiently.
- Willingness to travel 20-30% for trade shows, corporate events, and other customer-facing activities as required.
