Job Title: Rack and Stack Engineer (Cisco & 48V Experience)

Location: Travel-Based (Multiple Sites)

Employment Type: Contract

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Rack and Stack Engineer with experience in Cisco networking equipment and 48V power systems. This role requires extensive travel to various client sites, with all travel expenses-including airfare, hotel, and rental car-covered by the client. The engineer will be responsible for the physical installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network and server hardware in data center environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, mount, and secure Cisco networking hardware, servers, and associated equipment in rack environments.
  • Handle 48V power installations and ensure proper power connections and management.
  • Perform structured cabling, including fiber optics and Ethernet connections.
  • Conduct initial system boot-up, firmware updates, and basic configuration as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, connectivity, and power-related issues.
  • Work collaboratively with remote teams to validate installations and address any technical concerns.
  • Ensure all work adheres to data center best practices, safety standards, and client specifications.
  • Document installations, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in rack and stack installations, preferably in a data center or large-scale IT environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Experience working with 48V DC power systems.
  • Familiarity with structured cabling, including fiber optics, Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, and cable management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and power issues effectively.
  • Understanding of data center best practices and operational procedures.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Willingness to travel extensively to client sites as required.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience working in colocation or enterprise data centers.
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring and remote management tools.
  • OSHA or other safety certifications related to electrical and data center work.

Travel & Accommodations:
