What will you be doing?
The Engineer's role is to ensure that WWT/industry best practices and methodologies are applied to design, deployment and operations of TELCO/Service Provider technologies. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Consultant/Engineer to design, implement, and manage advanced network infrastructures. This role focuses on providing consultative solutions, driving product adoption, and ensuring the successful execution of complex Service Provider projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.

What will you be doing?
The Engineer's role is to ensure that WWT/industry best practices and methodologies are applied to design, deployment and operations of TELCO/Service Provider technologies. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Consultant/Engineer to design, implement, and manage advanced network infrastructures. This role focuses on providing consultative solutions, driving product adoption, and ensuring the successful execution of complex Service Provider projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement scalable, secure network solutions, including MPLS Service Provider Transport Networks, Enterprise Networks, and Data Centers.
- Lead complex network migration projects, including MPLS-SR Spine-Leaf Fabric Network transitions.
- Develop and execute detailed network diagrams, low-level designs (LLD), and implementation plans.
- Utilize advanced networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, L3VPN, EVPN, BFD, ) for designing underlay and overlay networks (recursive route resolution, VRFs, pseudowires, control and data plane concepts, etc.)
- Familiar with network monitoring practices (SNMP, syslog, gRPC) and able to infer from provided MOPs / deployment guides / documentation
- Automate network processes using Python, Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Provide architectural consulting, including BOMs, SOWs, and solution presentations.
- Train and mentor team members, enabling effective contribution to ongoing projects.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment and customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and trends to enhance service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have at least 7 years of experience designing, deploying, and implementing TELCO/Service Provider technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco hardware/software: IOS XR, NX-OS, NCS5500/540, ASR9K, ISR4K, etc.
- Expertise in automation tools (Python, Ansible, Terraform) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in routing and switching protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EVPN, L3VPN, Segment Routing, ).
- Experience with network security technologies, QoS, SD-WAN solutions, and data center design.
- Competent and confident in ability to modify running configuration of production communications service provider (non-enterprise) network devices of the following operating systems and hardware product families:
- Nokia SR OS (24.x+):
- 7750 SR (Nokia FP4 and FP5 Chipsets)
- 7250 IXR (Qumran and Jericho Chipsets)
- Ciena SA OS (10.9+):
- 5164 (Qumran)
- Cisco IOS XR (7.4.x+):
- NCS5500 (Jericho+)
- NCS5700 (Jericho 2/2C+)
- NCS540 (Qumran)
- Nokia SR OS (24.x+):
- Must be able to infer physical (Layer 1) reality from imperfect and partial information relayed by field resources and device reported state (incorrect or incomplete fiber cross connects, incorrect transceivers, inadequate power, etc).
- Must have ability to lead maintenance window (local 12-6a) and direct field smart hands resources as required to complete scope
- Must be able to professionally represent WWT in front of customer
REQUIREMENTS:
- Related degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or ten years equivalent network engineering experience.
- Highly preferred certifications or display experience at expert level:
- Cisco CCIE Service Provider
- Cisco DevNet Expert
- Nokia Service Routing Architect (SRA)
- Juniper JNCIE-SP
- Hands-on experience in large-scale network automation and policy deployment.
- Proficiency in compliance, auditing, and remediation using tools like Splunk, NSO, and CX-Cloud.
- Familiarity with deploying and managing enterprise environments.
- Understand WAN/LAN and transport technologies (Ethernet, DMVPN, WAAS and MPLS).
- Configuration management of networking devices using automation tools (APIC-EM, Cisco Catalyst Center - DNAC) and API scripting with Python preferred.
- Cisco partner post sales consulting experience strongly preferred.
- Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong customer service orientation with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Related degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or five years equivalent network engineering experience.
- Up to 15-25% regional travel
