The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting Human Resources practices and providing essential administrative and compliance assistance to the organization. This role ensures that HR operations align with business objectives and regulatory requirements while helping to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
The HR Generalist focuses on employee relations, compliance, onboarding, and benefits administration, playing a critical role in implementing HR standards and providing timely, accurate support to management and employees. Complex legal matters or sensitive employee relations issues will be escalated to the Director of Operations or referred to ownership when necessary.
Objectives of this role:
- Ensure that HR operations align with business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee records and conduct regular compliance audits to ensure adherence to company policies and labor laws.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure consistent execution of recruitment, onboarding, and training processes.
- Serve as a frontline resource for employee relations while escalating complex matters as appropriate.
- Administer employee benefits and support payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely updates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Conduct monthly audits of employee records, certifications, and training participation.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Maintain accurate employee files and manage HRIS data.
- Execute all compliance-related processes as established by company systems or direction.
- Full-Cycle Employment Support:
- Manage full-cycle employment processes, including recruitment coordination, onboarding, and offboarding, according to established procedures.
- Follow and implement company-developed systems for hiring, promotions, and terminations.
- Onboarding & Offboarding:
- Ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new hires, including I-9 verification, background checks, orientation, and benefits enrollment.
- Facilitate offboarding processes, ensuring compliance and proper documentation.
- Employee Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, resolving issues or escalating them as needed.
- Assist with investigations, disciplinary meetings, and documentation.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations on complex employee relations matters.
- Benefits Administration:
- Administer employee benefits and leave programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Serve as the main point of contact for benefits-related inquiries and collaborate with payroll for accuracy.
- Payroll Processing:
- Ensure accuracy in employee data and timely updates.
- Bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Follow established payroll systems and procedures.
- Training & Development Support:
- Track participation in training programs and maintain accurate records.
- Support the implementation of companywide training initiatives.
- Administrative Support:
- Generate compliance reports for management and provide administrative assistance as needed.
- Ensure timely updates to employee status changes and benefits documentation.
