Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) seeks a Specialist - Training to coordinate and provide trainings to agency staff and the community on various topics including Trauma Informed Care, Trauma-Informed Supervision, Cultural Humility, Domestic Violence, Crisis Prevention & Intervention, Gender & Sexuality and First Aid/CPR. The Specialist- Training is responsible for designing, developing, facilitating, and updating curriculums for internal and external training purposes. The Specialist- Training reviews training interest forms and delivers engaging training sessions. This position will also manage the logistics of coordinating external training, which includes vetting locations, assessing technology and accommodation needs, and coordinating materials and set-up. The Specialist- Training is a member of the Training Department and reports to the Director of Training.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position would also require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary
Travel
Limited travel for training certifications. No additional travel is expected for this position.
Remote Work
Ability to work on-site full-time as scheduled with the possibility of some remote work.

Essential Functions
- Conduct discovery meetings for training interest submissions and discuss training needs and logistics for in-person or virtual trainings.
- Design and develop training curriculums and corresponding activities for learning and engagement; ensuring design development is aligned with organizational branding guidelines.
- Schedule training sessions, manage participant registration, coordinate training logistics, and maintain training records.
- Maintain an updated Training Calendar to reflect scheduled external trainings.
- Facilitate training sessions using various delivery methods like in-person instruction, virtual training, role-playing exercises, and pre-recordings of trainings.
- Develop engaging training materials like presentations, videos, handouts, and e-learning modules.
- Ensure to properly store training equipment in the designated cabinet, and maintain materials stocked for future trainings.
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs through post-training evaluations and apply feedback and recommendations.
- Manage data tracking and reporting for external trainings.
- Develop marketing strategies to recruit agencies and staff to participate in trainings offered through DWC.
- Develop invoices for external payments and oversee the successful submission of payments by collaborating with the Finance Department.
- Keep abreast of new training methodologies, adult learning principles, and industry trends to enhance training effectiveness.
- Complete Instructor certification training for the following within 6 months of employment: First Aid/CPR/AED with American Red Cross, Crisis Prevention Institute’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Physical Techniques, and Management of Aggressive Behavior.

Required Education, Experience, And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field required, though
- equivalent work experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Experience in instructional design, adult learning principles, and training delivery.
- Experience with trauma and resiliency-informed training facilitation.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques; certified in Crisis Prevention Institute preferred but not required.
- Detail-oriented, thorough, accurate, and highly organized.
- Skill in communicating complex ideas and adapting learning principles for diverse adult learning styles.
- Professional attitude; team- and service-oriented approaches to role engagement.

- Must be a CA resident and live no more than 80 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWC
- Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire
- You will be required to be up to date on your vaccinations against COVID-19 and provide documentation. If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving final primary dose. If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations. Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.
