Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Permit Coordinator to play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and compliant execution of our projects. As a Permit Coordinator, you will be responsible for applying for electrical and gas permits with local municipalities for each project where such permits are required. Your meticulous attention to local regulations and exceptional organizational skills will contribute to our projects' success by securing the necessary permits and approvals in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and understand the specific permit requirements and procedures for electrical and gas installations within various local municipalities.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team, install team, and relevant stakeholders to gather the necessary project information and documentation required for permit applications.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and complete permit applications to local municipalities, ensuring adherence to all required guidelines, forms, and documentation.
  • Maintain a detailed record of permit applications, approvals, and any necessary follow-up actions, and communicate permit status updates to the project team as needed.
  • Liaise with municipal authorities, inspectors, and other regulatory agencies to address any inquiries, provide additional information, and ensure timely processing of permit applications.
  • Stay current with changes in local building codes, regulations, and permit application processes to ensure compliance and accurate submissions.
  • Assist in resolving any permit-related issues or challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to find effective solutions.
  • Provide administrative support by organizing and archiving permit-related documents, records, and correspondence.
  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices related to permit coordination and application to enhance overall project efficiency.
  • Maintain positive relationships with municipal officials and agencies to facilitate a smooth and efficient permitting process.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Permit Coordinator, Permit Technician, or similar role, preferably in the construction, electrical, or gas industry.
  • Strong familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes related to electrical and gas installations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple permit applications concurrently.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with internal teams, municipal authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency in using computer software and applications for document preparation, record-keeping, and communication.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate challenges and find solutions in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work independently while also being a valuable team player.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Previous experience with electrical and gas permit applications is highly desirable.
