Director of Sales and Marketing
Toplift North America is a leader in the sales and distribution of Intermodal Container Handling Port and Rail and Industrial Forklift lines and Steel Mill Equipment. We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Sales and Marketing to lead our sales and marketing efforts. This senior leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales and marketing strategies while also managing and mentoring a high-performing sales team. The Director will oversee their own sales territory of the East Coast, while providing leadership and direction to two other sales professionals, driving revenue growth across key industries such as railroads, steel mills, and ports.
Location: Remote (U.S.) with significant travel required
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and execute a strategic sales and marketing plan aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
- Drive revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
- Establish and monitor key sales performance metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of two sales professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Foster a results-oriented culture, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement within the sales team.
Business Development & Client Management:
- Actively manage a sales territory, including prospecting, relationship-building, and closing deals with clients in the railroad, steel mill, and port sectors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, industry stakeholders, and strategic partners.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to enhance market presence and brand awareness.
- Negotiate high-value contracts and partnerships to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
Marketing & Brand Development:
- Collaborate with internal teams to design and execute marketing campaigns that support sales initiatives.
- Oversee the development of sales collateral, presentations, and promotional materials to strengthen the company’s brand positioning.
- Utilize market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities, adapting strategies accordingly.
- Partner with product development teams to align offerings with market demand and customer needs.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Provide senior management with regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitive activities.
- Analyze sales data and CRM insights to optimize sales strategies and resource allocation.
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals and financial targets.
Travel Requirement:
- Travel approximately 60% of the time to meet with clients, conduct site visits, and attend industry events.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in sales leadership, preferably in heavy equipment, forklifts, or container handling industries.
- Experience managing sales and business development within the East Coast territory is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans.
- Strong understanding of the target industries (railroads, steel mills, and ports) and their specific operational needs.
- Demonstrated success in building, managing, and mentoring a sales team.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
- High level of business acumen, with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and digital marketing tools.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-driven, with a track record of exceeding sales targets.
- Willingness to travel extensively as required.
