Title: Research Associate I

Location: South San Francisco, CA (Onsite) – 94080

Duration: Until - 12/24/2025

This position is embedded within the client’s Research Pathology Department

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of industry experience; specifically performing diagnostic rodent necropsies.
  • Record of productivity as well as relevant professional experience.
  • Thorough understanding & proficiency for working in an In vivo research setting.
  • Ability to adhere to established policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Independently establishes new procedures/methods/assays, and effectively communicates these changes through training procedures and working documents.
  • Conducts scientific, technical or process improvement tasks in the laboratory that are evidenced by authorship and co-authorship of scientific publications and/or patents.
  • Must demonstrate ability or experience in working on multiple collaborative projects and in excelling in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work within a team of diverse expertise.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Enthusiasm for presenting work including thoroughly explaining data, defending experimental designs, and stimulating/engaging in scientific decisions to a wide scientific audience.
  • Excellent multitasking, organization, record-keeping and problem-solving with good time management skills.
  • Must have a desire to perform bench-work as role is primarily on-site at our South San Francisco campus and lab-based.
  • Possession of the technical expertise and significant experience in a broad range of basic and specialized methods of bench-work including:
  1. Extensive experience in animal handling
  2. Proficient in comprehensive necropsy of rodents.
  3. Administration of compounds required for designated procedures
  4. Fluid collection for downstream analysis
  5. Perfusion techniques
  6. Visual acuity and manual dexterity necessary for excising extremely small and delicate tissue samples for histological analysis
  7. Trimming, embedding & freezing tissues in various mediums
  8. Extensive knowledge and experience describing scientific observations during gross examination
  9. Publication-quality gross photography
  10. Quality control of work and entering data in the department database
  11. Ordering and replenishing consumables to ensure lab is adequately stocked
  12. Overseeing maintenance of lab and equipment within to ensure safety
  13. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  14. Work hours are commensurate with business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Animal Science or similar field
