Summary
We are seeking a highly knowledgeable Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Expert with expertise in Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS). This role requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in PKI, capable of providing in-depth guidance on certificate lifecycle management, implementing best practices, and optimizing PKI infrastructure for enhanced security posture. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of the project, focusing on deploying and managing enterprise certificate authorities and certificate lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and manage enterprise certificate authorities (CA) and certificate lifecycle management (enrollment, revocation).
- Stand up a test environment and performing health assessments of the architecture.
- Work with automation scripts (primarily PowerShell) to support certificate deployment and management.
- Collaborate with IAM engineers, PMs, BAs, and other team members.
- Provide expertise in AD Cert Authority, including debugging cert chaining issues, SSL, TLS, and misconfigurations.
- Handle tasks related to group policy, Kerberos, NTLM, cert-based authentication, and cert template policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 7+ years in Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
- Expertise in Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS), with strong PowerShell skills for automation and administration tasks.
- Demonstrated experience in deploying and managing enterprise certificate authorities (CA) and handling certificate lifecycle management (enrollment, revocation).
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting AD CS, ensuring secure and efficient certificate management.
- Experience in setting up and managing test environments for testing and validation of PKI implementations.
- Ability to conduct health assessments of the existing architecture and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Advanced skills in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks related to PKI and AD CS.
- In-depth knowledge of certificate-based authentication mechanisms and related security protocols.
- Experience in creating and managing group policies to enforce security settings and control user access within an Active Directory environment.
- Expertise in designing and implementing certificate templates and workflows to streamline certificate issuance and management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members.
- Preferred security certifications could include: Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
