The Director of Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions at St. Pius X. This includes directing all IT operations to meet the faculty/staff/student requirements, as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications, and development of new technical solutions.

- Develop an active faith community and model Christian values.
- Incorporate and encourage prayer and spiritual formation within the student, faculty and staff, and family communities.
- Uphold and implement the Dominican Charism and goals of the Dominican Veritas Ministries.
The Director of Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions at St. Pius X. This includes directing all IT operations to meet the faculty/staff/student requirements, as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications, and development of new technical solutions.
Responsibilities Include
- Manage multiple areas of technology in all departments.
- Lead a team of 2-4 team members; complete annual performance reviews; recruit and hire when applicable.
- Prepare and manage operating and capital budgets.
- In collaboration with other department heads, define resources needed for program growth, and facilitate implementation and support of those programs.
- Create and coordinate project plans and schedules; assign task responsibilities to team and manage successful completion of those projects.
- In collaboration it the Director of Finance, negotiate contracts with manufacture/resellers for all software, hardware and consulting services.
- Serving as the primary “Network Administrator”, with your team, ensure timely response to needed upgrades; manage troubleshooting of network issues, monitor networking hardware devices and software; develop and document system standards for computer and network devices.
- Serving as the primary “Systems Engineer”, with your team, maintain and configure servers; manage system back-up and restore; monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues; facilitate management of system user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam; oversee installation, training, and management of campus software programs (e.g., Blackbaud, SQL, etc.).
- Serving as the primary “Database Administrator”, with your team, develop database utilities and automated reporting; analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements; oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover; and evaluate and recommend new database technologies.
- Serving as the primary “Security Administrator”, with your team, manage the installation, configuration, monitoring and response to network security systems; collaborate with Director of Facilities to evaluate and develop a systematic approach to determine campus hardware and software security solutions; facilitate a proactive approach to assess potential items of risk and opportunities of vulnerability in the network; provide support in the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of the campus video surveillance system; provide support and recommendations for improvement of the campus electronic entry access control system.
- Serving as the primary “Website Administrator”, with your team, facilitate upgrades and troubleshooting of the web servers; recommend and develop new web applications for external and internal sites; manage and troubleshoot DNS issues; collaborate with Director of Communications to ensure website meets the needs of the campus.
- Serving as the primary “AV Administrator”, with your team, facilitate upgrades and repairs to AV equipment in all classrooms and meeting rooms; collaborate with the Director of Facilities to support the AV needs of other programs on campus (e.g., Athletics and Fine Arts programs).
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal and/or Head of School
General Qualifications
- Commitment to embrace the Catholic Mission and Dominican Charism of St. Pius X High School.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required, with at least five (5) years of experience within information technology.
- Prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Completion of safe environment training (currently Safe Haven).
- Highly organized and reliable with demonstrated success working in a quick-paced, dynamic environment with many responsibilities, ability to act efficiently on last-minute projects.
- Excellent judgement, confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
