Job Description:
The Infrastructure Solutions Architect will perform a combination of both Infrastructure and Application Architect responsibilities related to MDOS Elections, Financial, and Legal departments. The role involves leading efforts related to business analysis and executing tasks as defined in the State of Michigan s Project Management Methodology (PMM) and Systems Engineering Methodology (SEM).
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and recommend architecture solutions.
- Lead developers in system development in accordance with defined architecture.
- Ensure compliance with defacto and dejure standards.
- Analyze and recommend architecture solutions for web and mobile applications.
- Analyze business practices and processes to determine infrastructure best practices for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
- Assist with strategic planning, including application integration and legacy application strategy.
- Analyze hardware and software to determine standards and set processes.
- Perform cost analysis and modeling to assess ROI for projects and computer operations.
- Analyze application development processes and tools to support architecture/infrastructure.
- Recommend changes in hardware, storage, network systems, operating systems, COTS software, security, and software design to meet future growth and improve system performance (with SOM approval).
- Assist in developing business process models through the architecture/infrastructure lens.
- Architect integration of various vendor technologies, including COTS.
- Support technical teams with architecture/infrastructure implementations.
- Coordinate architectural changes in both technical and business environments.
- Architect diverse solutions into cohesive and manageable environments.
- Recommend solutions for technical architectures of web content management applications.
- Analyze market trends to relate business needs with technical opportunities.
- Participate in technology infrastructure test plan development and execution.
- Create and modify documentation deliverables as required by the State of Michigan standards.
- Lead and review business analysis efforts for infrastructure completeness.
- Assist in developing solution architectures from business, information, and technical requirements.
- Serve as a communication bridge between non-technical business users and technical developers.
- Participate in department assessment, visioning, and reengineering.
Required Skills:
- C#: 10+ years
- SQL Server: 5+ years
- Software Development: 10+ years
- Creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines: 3+ years
- Experience with common cloud providers (Azure, AWS): 3+ years
- Creating and maintaining applications using containers and container orchestration tools: 3+ years
- Configuring cache and message queuing systems (e.g., Redis, RabbitMQ): 3+ years
- Creating and maintaining security plans and disaster recovery plans: 3+ years
- Architect experience within the past 3 years: 3+ years
Preferred Skills:
- NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, or similar): 2+ years
- Creating and maintaining .NET applications: 5+ years
- Experience transitioning teams from on-prem hosting to cloud hosting: 2+ years
