Senior Director of Operations
River Driver Cannabis Company / Senior Director of Operations / Brunswick
We are working with our client, River Driver Cannabis Company, in seeking a Senior Director of Operations to be based in their Brunswick, Maine office. This new role will report to the owners and will be their ‘right-hand’ person to run day-to-day operations of their retail, wholesale, extraction, kitchen, and production business lines.
Requirements of the Senior Director of Operations:
- Experience successfully managing the operations of a small- to mid-size business.
- Knowledge of cannabis operations or other highly regulated industry and familiarity with METRC, Dutchie, Apex systems preferred.
- Ability to get an Individual Identification Card (ICC) which includes fingerprinting for a background check.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams to meet company goals and growth objectives.
- Experience developing and implementing SOPs, policies, and compliance programs.
- Experience developing and implementing programs and policies to support a high-performing culture.
- Ability to adapt and lead change in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to travel between Brunswick and Lisbon locations on a regular basis with full time on site expected
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities of the Senior Director of Operations:
- Oversees the daily operations of production, wholesale, and retail business lines to ensure efficiency, quality, and adherence to state and local regulatory requirements.
- Develops and implements processes, systems, policies, and standard operating procedures to ensure quality, enhance productivity, create clarity of expectations, and improve overall performance. Engages employees in process improvement and quality initiatives to ensure buy-in and support.
- Acts as liaison between departments to manage flow of communication.
- Develops the tools, systems, and communication process to create a positive culture that aligns with the company's mission and values.
- Identifies organizational structure needs and hires and leads staff to meet performance goals. Provides mentorship and career development opportunities to help staff grow and expand their contribution to the business.
- Develops and maintains compliance programs, policies, and practices.
- Develops and manages the company budget and monitors to adjust as needed. Collaborates with CFO to develop a realistic budget and provide regular reporting, analysis, and updates to ownership.
- Ideal candidate has experience in multiple cannabis verticals such as packaging, extraction, edible production, and retail.
- Stays abreast of cannabis industry trends and market dynamics to provide input to company strategy and product development as well as identify business development and market or partnership opportunities. Fosters relationships with target cannabis partners.
- Represents River Driver in public and industry forums including media, community, and cannabis events.
