Job Title: Casting Commodity Manager – Aerospace & Defense

Location: Remote

Travel requirement: Approx. 50% (to CIRCOR sites and suppliers in North America)

Position Summary

The Casting Commodity Manager will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing, procurement, delivery and overall management of casting and additive manufacturing in support of CIRCOR operations in North America.

The candidate shall have a strong background in supplier development, experience in casting production processes (specifically sand and investment), and the ability to lead supplier delivery and quality improvements, with experience in Aerospace & Defense or Naval industries.

This role will also be required to focus on developing and executing a sourcing strategy for castings, managing supplier relationships, identifying new suppliers and technologies, and driving improved foundry performance.

Principal Activities:

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure the best balance of cost, quality, delivery, and service
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations to ensure adherence to quality standards, delivery requirements, and cost targets
  • Support RFQ activities for follow-on production and new product introduction

Cost Management:

  • Manage the budget for castings and related services, ensuring cost-effective procurement while meeting quality and delivery expectations
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to improve overall cost performance
  • Continuously monitor and benchmark market trends, and implement strategies to reduce costs

Quality Assurance and Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with CIRCOR site engineering, production, and quality teams to define and uphold casting delivery and quality standards
  • Address all quality issues with suppliers and implement corrective actions as necessary
  • Monitor supplier compliance with standards and regulatory requirements as related to CIRCOR quality and customer flow downs
  • Partner with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to understand material requirements and identify opportunities for process and lead time improvements

Inventory and Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate supply chain risks, including disruption or material shortages
  • Monitor and ensure the timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on supplier performance, cost savings, inventory levels, and market trends to senior management
  • Use data-driven insights to drive decision-making and optimize the casting supply chain

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master's degree in a related field is a plus.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in procurement or commodity management
  • 3+ years of experience specifically in foundry/casting manufacturing
  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation, cost reduction, and contract management
  • Experience with material sourcing, quality control, and managing supply chain processes for manufacturing

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of casting processes, materials, and Aerospace & Defense or Naval industry standards
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive decisions
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities, specifically on-site at supplier locations
  • Strong critical thinking & problem solving background, (Six Sigma Green Belt preferred)
