Salary Range For This Role
Starting salary range based on experience
$80,000—$90,000 USD

Core Responsibilities
- A key contributor to the monthly close process:
- Preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Analyze general ledger accounts, identifying necessary accruals, adjustments, and reclasses
- Work with team management to ensure tasks are completed in line with weekly and period end close schedules
- Assist with financial statement inquiries at a store and corporate level
- Reconcile daily sales including identifying and resolving issues
- Support sales tax calculations and periodic sales tax returns
- Compile schedules and necessary supporting documents for audit requests
- Work with team management on special projects, ad hoc analysis and reporting
- By the end of your third month, gain a clear understanding of Sweetgreen’s accounting practices and processes, with the ability to complete period end tasks under the supervision of more senior members of the team. Have a good grasp of following systems used to complete required responsibilities: Oracle Fusion (ERP), Oracle EPM (Close Checklist, Balance Sheet Recs) to build analysis and complete account reconciliations
- After six months at Sweetgreen, you will know the Chart of Accounts well and how accounts flow to the various financial statements. Most tasks should be completed with minimal supervision, helping Accounting Managers with periodic and ad hoc projects as necessary
- Build upon your foundational knowledge and begin to look for efficiencies. Find ways to improve our current processes while expanding your knowledge base across all functions of the accounting team. Examples include: Banking entries, sales tax, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations
- Establish yourself as a reliable resource for both your teammates as well as cross-functions partners within Sweetgreen. Display the skillset to attend meetings as Accounting’s representative, understanding what we can do to help but also ensuring we have what we need to account for newly developed processes adequately
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA or CPA track is not required but is a plus
- Expanding proficiency with Excel and its functions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to pick up computer programs quickly
- Attention to detail
- Works well in a team environment, helping others troubleshoot issues or challenges
- Willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done in a deadline driven profession
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably with multi-unit industries
- Minimum 1 year of experience with a heavy focus on general ledger accounting
- Prior experience with financial reporting a plus
