Communications Specialist: Writer

Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with minimum of 5 years highly relevant experience
Job Summary: The Content Creator will influence World Impact’s (WI) role as thought leaders in the world of urban ministry as well as its branding efforts. S/He interviews, writes, and produces stories that connect WI to a variety of audiences through a variety of mediums and platforms with a core focus on fundraising and donor relations (detailed as follows):
• Writing/Storytelling:
- Serves as the “World Impact story reporter and story manager,” writing direct response fundraising and donor nurture campaigns, web articles, social media posts, other digital and print content such as long-form blog posts, white papers, newsletters, annual report content, copy editing and proofing. 55%
- Responsible for crafting and drafting storylines and scripts for short-form and longer video-based content on World Impact mission impact. 30%
- Editing and Proofing: Serves as the primary go-to for all marketing/communications. 10%
Travel Requirements: 12-24 trips per year for story gathering, interviews, and World Impact staff meetings.
Personal Development & Administrative: Internal and external skills and spiritual growth and job-related administrative work. 5%

Physical Requirements: • Sedentary Work. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; lift minimum 10 pounds.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Interpersonal • Works closely with other teams to ensure strategic, creative, and technical goals are achieved. • Demonstrates a curiosity in hearing and capturing others’ stories and a commitment to understanding multiple audiences with empathy by asking the right questions to help other audiences understand and feel invited into the mission. • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies, culture and activities. • An encouraging collaborator who motivates and inspires others while implementing processes that drive results and achieve departmental objectives.
Operational • Experienced in fundraising campaign strategy, digital content strategy, creation, and execution (website, Social Media, emails, etc.). • Experienced in new name acquisition (lead generation) focused on marketing and fundraising best practices (print and digital) • Approaches content with an eye for opportunities beyond the written word — experience creating infographics, video scripts, social media, and visual storytelling in general. • Very strong persuasive and sales-writing skills; exceptional ability to tell a story and document it for others to share with the community. • Manage the content inventory and control the quality of the delivered content. • Possess a broad array of writing skills to assist with traditional, digital, and social projects. • Create short-form and motion-based videos/video content (typically 10 seconds to 90 seconds) from start to finish for use on a variety of platforms. • Strong knowledge in skillfully operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting digital video, audio, and lighting equipment. • High proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro. • If based remotely, this role will require 4-10 days of monthly travel to our Wichita, KS office and ministry partners across the US.
