JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a Wireless Engineer to join our wireless network engineering team in supporting non-stop
small/medium/large-scale site & system upgrades within our nationwide healthcare organization. This
person would be called upon to participate in the assessment, design, and implementation of new
hardware, software & configuration changes to the various wireless networks. Our team is in constant
collaboration with partnering teams like wired networking, security, server, endpoint management, voice
and more in order to provide holistic solutions that move everything forward together.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess existing wireless networks to determine health scores and areas that need to be updated to a contemporary state
- Collaborate with endpoint support teams to determine technical specifications & expectations per endpoint device type
- Participate in the development of high-level & low-level designs that depict the before/after networks, and the transition plan to migrate from legacy to new environment is the least impactful, and most efficient way
- Coordinate with Project leadership and partnering teams to assemble quotes, order/track/receive/assemble/test/stage new equipment
- Participate in the implementation tasks to bring new hardware, software & configurations online, migrate users, and decommission the legacy environment
- Provide day-1 support for newly activated environments to make sure everything is stable before turning over to operations for steady-state support
- Perform project closure tasks to turn over finished deliverables to the Network Operations team
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience supporting enterprise wired and wireless network environments
- 3-5 years of experience with the configuration and troubleshooting of wired and wireless network devices including Cisco Air-OS and IOS-XE based Wireless LAN Controllers, MSE/CMX/Spaces and Access Points. Familiarity with Dell-Aruba, Meru, Meraki, Ruckus is helpful.
- 1-3 years of experience with various network principles including: Layer1 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, RSSI, SNR, CCI, ACI, device uplink copper/fiber cabling), Layer2 (VLANs, Trunking, Port- channels, Spanning-Tree), Layer3 (Subnetting, IGP/EGP routing, Multicast, route-maps, NAT/PAT), Layer4 (TCP/UDP ports, QoS)
- 1-3 years of experience with Wireless network tools: PCAP (Wireshark, Cisco, WLAN-PI), RF (Ekahau, Metageek), Wireless NMS (Cisco Prime 3.x, DNAC w/Assurance)
- 1-3 years of at least indirect experience with ancillary networking tools like TACACS+, RADIUS
- (Cisco ISE), DHCP Servers (Microsoft), NMS Servers (SNMP, SYSLOG, NETFLOW, Other)
- Experience with Office administration tools Google-Suites (Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Chat, Drive), Microsoft Project & Visio
DESIRED EDUCATION:
- Cisco CCNA Wireless or equivalent
- CWNA
- AA with 7 years of experience or BS with 5 years of experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Location: Remote
- Type of environment: Mostly Home Office, but a Branch Office is available in most cases. Nationwide layout of hospitals, clinics, office-buildings, other.
- Work Schedule: 8-5pm M-F is the baseline. Depending upon task activities, earlier or later events may be scheduled, which causes a shift in the workday.
- Amount of Travel: 25-35% on the high side. All things going smoothly, less travel is needed. If critical upgrades are involved, more travel may be needed
- Physical Activities: Wireless LAN Controller, Location Servers, Access Point install/uninstall work.
OTHER DUTIES:
The wireless network engineering team is part of a larger infrastructure engineering group. Our mission is
to move everything forward together into the future. This means we as wireless engineers may be called
upon to assist our partner teams to address situations like server migrations, new endpoint deployments,
wired network upgrades that displace wireless controllers and/or access points. Security upgrades that
modify firewalls, load-balancers, TACACS+, RADIUS, etc. There is a wide range of scenarios that could
require assistance from wireless networking. We try to be good partners with the larger team, so that we
are all successful for our end users and clients.
