Job Description
A Senior Design Lead is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing experience design strategies and initiatives. This role combines a deep understanding of user-design principles with leadership skills to ensure that products and services meet the needs and expectations of users.
The primary role of a Senior Design Lead is to collaborate with Design Manager to define and execute the overall user experience vision and strategy, ensuring a consistent and seamless experience across various online and offline touchpoints.
Working with authority and professionalism, they will lead design tasks on assigned projects or may delegate tasks and offer feedback to team members, ensuring the high quality of the digital design work and displaying the expertise that has gone into the project.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of UI/UX work on digital platforms/applications.
Responsibilities
* Team leadership: Work together and mentor a team of design professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Ensure the team's collaboration, growth, and adherence to design processes and methodologies.
* User research and insights: Involved in user research activities to gain a deep understanding of user needs, behaviors, and motivations. Utilize research findings to inform design decisions and validate design solutions.
* UX design and prototyping: Proven expertise in user interface (UI) design, interaction design, and information architecture. Lead the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs to communicate and test design concepts.
* Stakeholder management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment and a shared understanding of user experience goals.
* Usability testing and evaluation: Work with UX Lead to execute usability testing strategies to validate design decisions and uncover areas for improvement.
* Industry awareness: Staying up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in user experience design and provide thought leadership and guidance on emerging UX trends and innovations.
Requirements
* 5+ years of UI design experience designing for complex digital product solutions (not branding or marketing websites).
* Have a portfolio available for review with examples of project experience that demonstrates strategic and conceptual thinking.
* Be highly proficient with design software such as Figma, etc.
* A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design, design thinking and research methodologies through formal training or work experience.
* A customer-focused approach and experience conducting and leveraging qualitative & quantitative user research methodologies and insights to drive design decisions (e.g. UserZoom, User Testing, etc.).
* Fluent in creation of wireframes, mid and high-fidelity designs (e.g. Balsamiq, Figma, XD, etc.).
* Understand and apply accessibility to design.
* Manage timelines and multiple concurrent projects.
* Self-starter and operate at a high level independently.
* Fluent with Mac system.
Nice to have
* Experience working in Wealth Management or Financial industry.
* Experience working in an Agile framework, iterating on the product based on user input and stakeholder's direction.
* Experience developing designs for digital products with complex tech stacks.
* Experience or familiarity with Storybook, NPM, etc.
* Experience with CSS/HTML.
* Degree in graphic design or related degree.
